»Beatles er det eneste band, der altid får én til at føle sig ekstremt middelmådig«

Mattias Kolstrup er forsanger i Duné. Det Berlin-baserede band udgav tidligere på året EP’en ‘Leaving Metropolis’. 

Hvilken plade var den første du købte?
Jeg kan ikke huske, hvilken plade der var den første jeg købte, men den første, jeg fik, var ‘Out of Time’ med R.E.M. Det var en voldsom oplevelse. Jeg råhørte pladen – specielt hittet ‘Everybody Hurts’ – så den har meget sentimental værdi for mig, og jeg har svært ved at vurdere den egentlige musikalske kvalitet, men de første sange på pladen har nogle ret sjove nye tiltag. Det lyder nærmest som Alfabeat – sådan noget glad-i-låget popmusik.

Hvilken plade var den seneste, du købte?
Agnes Obel. Jeg havde kun hørt hendes navn og var lidt forudindtaget. Jeg tænkte ‘øv, sådan en eller anden ny smart sangerinde’, men da jeg hørte hende, blev jeg dybt imponeret. Det er utroligt modigt og meget nøgen og stærk musik.

Hvilken plade ville du redde, hvis dit hus brændte?
Det må være det Beatles-boxset med forbedret lyd, som jeg har købt. Jeg havde længe ønsket mig hele Beatles’ bagkatalog, fordi jeg jo er vokset op med min fars pladesamling. Beatles er det eneste band, der altid får én til at føle sig ekstremt middelmådig. Det faktum, at de udgav 13 albums på otte år, og at musikken stadig holder i dag, er et mysterium – de må have fået hjælp fra højere magter.

Which album was the first you bought?I can't remember which album there was the first I bought, but the first I got was 'Out of Time' by REM. It was a violent experience. I heard the alumb a lot- especially the hit 'Everybody Hurts' - so it has much sentimental value for me and I find it difficult to assess the actual musical quality, but the first songs on the album has some pretty funny responses. It sounds like "AlphaBeat - you know happy music.

Which album was the latest that you bought?Agnes Obel. I had only heard her name and was a little biased. I thought, 'Aw, so a new smart singer, ' but when I heard her, I was deeply impressed. It's incredibly brave and very naked and strong music.

Which album would you save if your house burned down?This must be the Beatles boxset with enhanced sound, which I bought. I had for a long time wished me all the Beatles' back catalog, because I grew up with my dad's record collection. Beatles are the only band that always makes you feel extremely mediocre. The fact that they released 13 albums in eight years, and that the music still holds today, is a mystery - they may have had help from higher powers.
